A TALLER MOUNTAIN: EPISODE 7 VIRGINIA WOOLF

  

 In this episode we talk about the great feminist icon, Virginia Woolf. Born in 1882, Virginia was an influential English writer and a central figure in the modernist literary movement. Known for her innovative narrative techniques, such as stream of consciousness, her notable works include A Room of One’s Own, Mrs Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, and Orlando. Woolf explored themes such as identity, mental illness, and the inner lives of women, profoundly shaping 20th-century literature. In this episode I interview Malu, a student at the Official School of Languages and mention where you can listen to the only surviving recording of Virginia Woolf’s voice.

In this episode we pay homage to a fascinating Irish writer, EDNA O’BRIEN, who died in London last August at the age of 93.  A fearless, outspoken and often controversial figure, O’Brien wrote more than 20 novels, biographies, as well as plays, screenplays and a memoir. I also interview Irene Ruiz, another teacher at the school of languages. Don’t miss it!

JORNADA GASTRONÓMICA NAVIDEÑA

¿En qué consiste?  

En preparar recetas de cualquiera de los países en los que se hablan las lenguas de la escuela, tanto dulces como saladas. 

Con el plato puede acompañarse un póster informativo escrito en la lengua que estudias con: 

- la receta 

- un texto breve, explicando algo de la receta 

- imágenes (fotografías, dibujos, QR etc.) 

 

Pueden participar todo el alumnado de la escuela y por tantos idiomas como estudie. 

 

¿Cómo participar?  

Rellenando la correspondiente ficha en Conserjería antes del 18 de diciembre, entregando tu póster (del 16 al 18 de diciembre) y, por supuesto, trayendo tu plato en una de estas dos sesiones: 

 

Jueves 19 de diciembre, a las 10:30 o por la tarde a las 18:30

 

Habrá PREMIOS a los mejores platos dulces y salados (1º y 2º por categoría y sesión) y a los mejores pósteres (1º y 2º)

El jurado:  Actuará como jurado en este concurso una comisión formada por miembros del profesorado, y personal administrativo de la escuela.

LABORATORIO DI ITALIANO IN CUCINA

 Il Dipartimento di Italiano ha organizzato un laboratorio in cucina. L’attività si è svolta lo scorso venerdì 8 novembre a casa di Sabrina e Marco, due veri italiani che ci hanno insegnato non solo la lingua della cucina ma anche a cucinare questi ottimi piatti:

 - Danubio ripieno di bacon e formaggio 

- Sole di mortadella 

- Insalata caprese 

- Fettuccine al ragù 

- Salame di cioccolato 

Abbiamo mangiato, bevuto e chiacchierato tanto. Inoltre i cuochi ci hanno parlato delle curiosità regionali, a livello gastronomico e sociale, e di alcune differenze tra Italia e Spagna. È stata davvero un’attività da ripetere.

 After a few summery months, A TALLER MOUNTAIN IS BACK. And we are delighted because we have to celebrate! What? Not a few things: last 19th of October was WOMEN WRITERS DAY; a woman, HAN KANG, has won the Nobel Prize for Literature; and two women writers have won two Princesa de Asturias Prizes: MARJANE SATRAPI for Communication and Humanities, and ANA BLANDIANA for Literature. HURRAY!
